For the new home of the legendary Spruce Goose, Stearns was hired early in the design phase to assist KPFF Consulting Engineers in the completion of the structural design.

Stearns' emphasis was on erection stability and safety, deflections and tolerances, panelization and connection design - all critical to successfully complete the 360-foot truss system.

Stearns worked closely with Hoffman Construction to construct the steel on time and on budget.
