Pioneer Memorial Hospital
Stearns provided design-assist services and furnished and self erected the structural steel, joist, floor and roof deck, canopies, glulam connections, stairs, and grand entry stair for this 55,000 square foot hospital. Neenan selected the team of subcontractors at the project’s inception to establish a budget for each scope of work. The team worked collaboratively to complete the design within budget – occasionally revising and shifting scope from one trade to another in order to improve deliverables and performance while maintaining the overall budget. Value engineering ideas that were proposed and implemented included reducing the quantity of lateral resistant steel brace frames and their associated cost and replacing them with exposed precast panels which satisfied seismic requirements while providing architectural aesthetics. This coordination required real-time updates of the budget while design and scope developed.
